The Giant Worm Run
On a beautiful sunny Sunday, seven families met at Hungry Jacks, Cranbourne. After a cuppa we left Cranbourne heading down South Gippsland Hwy at a nice sedate speed, behind Chris Cook arriving at the Giant Worm at Bass. Upon arrival we discovered that Chris doesn’t have a needle on his speedo.
This explains the sedate speed!
After paying the princely sum of $10 per family as organised by Lois (bargain as normal rate is $33.90), we set off to check out the crocodile, wombats (giving them a hold/pat), picked up a bucket of feed and headed out into the paddock to feed a mob of kangaroos; some big, some small with some big kids and some small kids. We continued on to see emus, koalas, lorikeets and a pair of talking cockies and on into the giant worm display.
The kids had great fun crawling through the worm tunnels and even Chris attempted this feat (although got stuck and had to reverse out). We saw photos of the Giant worms that had grown to 8 feet long and were as thick as a piece of rope.
We stopped in the cafe to have a bite to eat with a brief look at the shark display.
We headed off mid afternoon to our various homes in Melbourne and the Peninsula, with Steve & Lois and grandchildren and the Smithson clan stopping at Tooradin to watch skydivers, play on the playground and watch the planes. A big thank you to Lois for organising yet another fun family day out. If anyone has any ideas for future family outings please contact the committee.
