Pakenham Picnic - Johns Rod n Kustom
After going to Canberra the weekend before and being rained out last
year at the picnic, we weren’t too sure about going to the picnic.
The weather forecast wasn’t good but it ended being a nice warm day
and we arrived around 10am to park in the in-field as the inner areas
had already filled up. A wander around revealed the large number of
rods, customs and classics - it’s obvious that our hobby is getting
bigger. Ross A had his rat rod there and drawing a lot of looks. I
also liked the 57 gasser that started making laps around the venue -
until it woke up Alex asleep in his pram!
The Tri 5 turn out was big - even another Nomad Alan! - this time a
stocker 56 recently purchased and put on the road. The 57 cop car
looked good from the outside but I don’t know what they were thinking
about the interior - it looked like someone’s lounge room from the 60’s.
Bumped into a lot of club members wandering around - nothing was
organised as a club this year - it sort of slipped by busy with other
events. It was a good day and a few of us managed to sit down and
have a chat and let the kids play and watch the interesting crowd and
cool cars go by.
